Meet Sandra Battistel, who is a very lucky lady, for she has found something she is truly passionate about: eyewear.
Sandra grew up in Northern Italy, studied in Central Saint Martins and worked with such names as Dolce & Gabbana, Calvin Klein and Vivienne Westwood.
She now works for B.Base, a leading fashion eyewear design, production and licensing house, based in Hong-Kong. Sandra helps clients develop new concepts and then guides them through the design and production processes to deliver fashion eyewear.
A year and a half ago Sandra launched a blog, eyespectacle, where she shares her thoughts and ideas on eyewear. One day she writes about a small Italian designer Res / Rei, inscribing its handmade frames with beautiful messages, another day she writes about a new creative eyewear designer, based in London’s Bloomsbury. What catches the eye is that Sandra complements her articles with her own drawings, for example, integrating a photographic image of a frame with a face sketch.
Sandra’s “stories behind the frame” are always about small, independent designers, beautiful design concepts and self-expression via eyewear. She is passionate about helping people to find individual frames to accentuate their faces and personalities.
But eyespectacle is also Sandra’s own forum for creative self-expression via writing and drawing. She says it is both therapeutic and empowering. And who knows, perhaps one day the blog will grow into something more tangible, which is what ideas tend to do, infused with passion and tendered with care…
